Bitcoin SV (BSV; Bitcoin Satoshi’s Vision) forked from Bitcoin Cash (BCH) on November 15, 2018, due to an ongoing dispute over the direction that future development should take. This dispute largely centered on the block size of the Bitcoin network, with Bitcoin Cash proponents wanting the block size to remain 32 MD while Bitcoin SV proponents advocated for a 132 MB block size. This is the largest difference between these blockchains, with most other parts and specifications remaining the same between Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin Cash.
The name of Bitcoin SV is a direct nod to the way in which its proponents believe it is a true fulfillment of the vision that Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, had when creating the original Bitcoin. Bitcoin SV shares the same UTXO blockchain model as Bitcoin (BTC) and is widely regarded as an altcoin to Bitcoin.
