Template for Contacting Officials on Behalf of Crypto

Finding just the right words to say can be hard, which is why we’ve made this helpful template when contacting elected officials. Whether you’re writing a letter to your local mayor, your governor, a congressman or senator, or even the President, this template can help ensure you’re saying what you need to say.

Read our companion blog post on this subject to learn how to find your elected representatives.

Remember to add specific information where it is appropriate, and feel free to add whatever you think is needed for your letter.

The current regulatory framework surrounding cryptocurrency has stifled its growth and made it harder for people, companies, and new projects to enter this ecosystem. As it stands today, regulatory uncertainty makes it more difficult for cryptocurrency to grow and thrive.

Cryptocurrency provides an economic pathway for individuals who have been disconnected from the global economy. Further, cryptocurrency offers a way for people of all backgrounds to get involved with a growing industry filled with opportunity. Year after year, cryptocurrency continues to attract newcomers searching for a change to the status-quo.

Other countries, including Japan, Sweden, Estonia, and others, are creating their own cryptocurrency projects or improving their regulations to allow for cryptocurrency to grow. The longer the United States takes to improve our own regulations the greater the chance that we will fall behind these countries that are making progress towards incorporating cryptocurrency at greater scales.

I appreciate that you are open to hearing from your constituents and listening to what they have to say. Knowing about your flexibility and support is what lead me to feel confident in contacting you – I know that you will take the time to carefully consider these issues. I ask that you find ways to support regulations that are helpful to cryptocurrency. There are a number of cryptocurrency enthusiasts in my area, all of whom would be pleased to learn that you are on our side.

I believe that improving regulations surrounding cryptocurrency would lead to a more prosperous America. I hope you agree with my assessment and will find ways to support cryptocurrency from where you are.

Thank you for all that you do!

Sincerely,
