As many Americans might be aware, the United States Government is moving to send money directly to households that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. These “stimulus checks” are expected to begin arriving in the coming weeks to Americans who have direct deposit set up with the IRS, with physical checks being mailed weeks later to anyone who does not have the direct deposit ability set up with the IRS.
Most American adults will be eligible for these payments, which the IRS is calling an Economic Impact Payment. You can check their website here to double-check that you’re eligible.
We understand that this is an unprecedented time for all of us, and the challenges we are all facing are too numerous to count. We don’t want to see any of our users face financial hardships as they await their stimulus check, which is why we’ve created this helpful guide to show you exactly what to do to receive a direct deposit — and how to receive it directly in your Metal Pay Cash Wallet, if you’d like.
Step 1 – Check with the IRS
The first step is determining if you are already in the IRS’s database as someone who is eligible for direct deposit payments. Did you file a tax return in 2018 or 2019 and provide your bank account number and routing number at that time? If so, you likely are ready to receive that payment. Are you unsure if this is your case? Not to worry – the IRS has launched a Get My Payment tool to let Americans check, update, and track their information for these deposits.
Keep a close eye on this page on the official IRS website for more information about how this works.
Step 2 – Get Your Bank Information Ready
Now that the Get My Payment tool is live, you may want to start updating your information. The IRS will need your bank account number and your bank routing number – both of these numbers can be found on the bottom of your personal checks, on your bank account’s website when you’re logged in, or in your bank account’s app when you’re logged in.
Want to receive those funds somewhere else? Consider sending it to your FDIC-insured Cash Wallet in Metal Pay.
Step 3 – Send the Funds Directly to Metal Pay
Sending your stimulus check directly to your Metal Pay account is a great way to ensure it’s able to be moved wherever you need to move it. Have a family member you’re worried about? Send them some cash through Metal Pay and earn rewards in the process. Wanting to use a bit of your stimulus check to buy cryptocurrency? Metal Pay is the absolute easiest way to do this. Want to simply withdraw that money and send it to another account? Metal Pay lets you do this hassle free.
Receiving the stimulus payment in your Metal Pay account is one of the best ways to keep the money flexible, accessible, and usable. To do this, simply open your Metal Pay app, tap on your Cash Wallet, and click on your Account Number and Routing Number – here you’ll see the information that the IRS will need to send the payment directly to your Metal Pay account.
Using the IRS Get My Payment tool, simply enter this information into their website and wait for the money to arrive in your Metal Pay Cash Wallet.
